A little about us...

My husband, Jim, and I live in Fort Carson, CO.  I am a stay-at-home mom of two boys--ages 3 and 7.  My husband is a helicopter pilot in the United States Army.  Currently we are residing in Washington State as Jim serves our country for yet another deployment to the Middle East

We bought our first Great Dane in February of 2003.  He was my first purebred dog.  He is a wonderful family pet and the perfect match for our family.  He was the last brindle boy from a litter bred by Wanda and Chris Hepler of Winterlochen Danes.  He was supposed to go to a show home, but everything just fell into place and Wanda and Chris felt comfortable placing him with me.  They asked that I attend a fun match just to see what showing was like and I was hooked.  I had spent the previous year researching everything I could find on Great Danes, but this was something I hadn't looked into or even considered.

Wanda and I formed a friendship and during this time we saw a need for a Great Dane club in North Carolina.  There are so many backyard breeders and puppy mills in the area that the rescues are full to the brim with Danes in need.  We think that education is the key to turn things around.  So in the winter of 2003 we started planning how to form the club and in March of 2004 we held the first meeting of the Great Dane Club of Central North Carolina.  It has been a long, hard, and sometimes frustrating road; but the club is doing great things and continues to grow.

We are fortunate enough to be learning from some of the best breeders of Great Danes.  In summer of 2004 we brought home what would become my first champion Great Dane from some of these breeders; Lori Cornelius of Dixie Danes, Pam Deloria of Raintree Great Danes, and Sandy Fetters of Erinwood Great Danes.  Elliott is co-owned with Chris and Wanda Hepler and lives the majority of his time with them.  He is a true joy and a great all around dog.  His pedigree is incredible and is an amazing place for me to start.  Elliott finished his championship in June 2006 at just over 2 years old.  Since 2003 I had been researching a good foundation bitch for me to start my own breeding program with hopes of producing Great Danes that are the complete package and improving on what are already great lines of Danes.  In February 2005 I picked up the cutest little puppy ever from the airport in Atlanta, GA.  Scout came to us from Karen and Bernie Martin of Danemark Danes and is co-owned with Chris and Wanda also.  She was bringing with her a line bred pedigree full of champions and lots of health clearances.  Scout has 6 points, but has been retired from the show ring.  Unfortunately she will not be my foundation bitch as I had hoped.  I will continue to look for the right foundation bitch to start my breeding program.  In the meantime, I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time so to speak in spring 2007.  We welcomed a new brindle boy into our home courtesy of Serge Guillet of Saul Kennels, Registered. Gator and I will be hitting the show ring soon.  This boy has lots of charisma and hopefully will truly love being in the ring with me.

Hope this gives you an idea of our story.  Take some time to look around the site and please feel free to contact me with any questions or if you just want to talk about Danes.
